Las Vegas: Day 1

The Bellagio

On our first day in Las Vegas, we got settled in our hotel the Vegas classic, The Bellagio! This beautiful Las Vegas resort is famous for its amazing musical fountains and over-the-top conservatory. You may have seen the Bellagio featured in films such as Focus and Oceans Eleven. Built in 1992, this luxury resort is inspired by Lake Como in Italy and you can really feel the theme throughout the property.

Our room (pictures below) was their classic king room. Some of the amenities included bath tub, tiled shower, mini bar and a great view of Las Vegas Boulevard!

The Bellagio Pool

The pool at the Bellagio is one of the best on the Las Vegas strip! There are multiple small private pools to relax at as well as two larger pools to enjoy with lots of places to sit! You can rent a more comfy chair for $75 per day or a Cabana starting at $200 per day. On your first day in Las Vegas, I highly recommend you relax a little bit, get settled in your room, and spend some time by the pool- it’s one of my favorite things to do in Las Vegas!

Las Vegas is known for being very hot- sometimes over 100 degrees! Make sure you’re ready to look your best on your couple’s trip to Las Vegas your best with these sexy bathing suit options from Amazon!

Dinner at Lago (The Bellagio)

After spending time at the pool and relaxing before you know it, it will be time for dinner! On your first night (and last night) I would suggest picking someplace a little fancy! You are in Vegas after all and eating and drinking are all part of the experience. We chose to eat within our resort at Lago. This restaurant is an Italian small plates style eatery with a fantastic view of the Bellagio Fountains. They have amazing food that can be purchased ala carte or via a pre-fixed menu. We enjoyed a small Margetite Pizza for an appetizer with Lasagna and Lobster Gnocchi for our entrees. For dessert, you can’t go wrong with the Trimisui! They also have an extensive wine list to choose from with my personal favorite, Chianti being my top choice.

Shop your Vegas look!

Wearing a fun sparkly dress is all part of the fun in Vegas! Make sure you get yours before you go!

After Dinner

There are so many things to do in Las Vegas after the sun sets! You could see a show, gamble, or just wander through the casinos! On your first night in town (especially if you have never been) I would suggest exploring the strip. The casinos are so over the top, they are really a sight to see. I will include some of the MUST see casinos later in this post!

Pro Tip- If you choose to walk the strip, it’s about 4 miles which is a lot farther than it looks! Other ways to get around include Uber, Lift, Taxi, or the Las Vegas Monorail!

Las Vegas: Day 2

Breakfast at EggSlut (The Cosmo)

Whether you stayed up late gambling or exploring the stip you can’t go wrong with a nice breakfast in Vegas! One of my favorite places for a quick breakfast is EggSlut at the Cosmopolitan. Located right next to The Bellagio, the “Cosmo” has tons of great restaurants, lounges, and a great sportsbook. They market toward the younger generation so the vibe of the place is really cool! Eggslut is located on the second floor right across from the Chandelier Bar. They offer a variety of breakfast sandwiches including one with wagyu beef! Be prepared to wait in line as this place is very popular!

Pro tip– Vegas is an expensive place to eat so if you plan on having a sit down style breakfast be prepared to spend about $50 per person.

Walk the South Strip

Up next, you should be well-rested (maybe?) and have a full belly from breakfast- time to walk! This is the time I suggest doing some more exploring! Please do not try to walk the entire stip in one day- as I mentioned before it is a much longer walk than it looks. I suggest dividing it up into the “South” and “North” strip. Let’s explore the South Strip below:

  • The Cosmopolitan– this is where your walk will begin and is really considered more “center” strip. The Cosmo is a great place to stay for young people. It features popular spots to eat/drink including Eggslut, Secret Pizza, and the Chandelier Bar! They are also famous for their rooftop pool parties!
  • Aria– Up next is Aria! One of my favorite Casino/Resorts on the Strip! Located just past the Cosmo, set back off the strip, Aria is a modern style casino known for its swanky lounges and amazing lobby! Try out The Catch restaurant for lunch or dinner.
  • New York New York– Next up is New York, New York! Famously themed after the city with the same name, this casino/resort embodies the vibe of New York, complete with a mini Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, and the Streets of New York restaurant area inside. Take time to ride the Big Apple Coaster – such a fun ride!
  • Mandalay Bay– located at the far end of the strip, Mandalay Bay has an airy beach theme. We stayed here on one of our trips and we loved it! Mandalay Bay has an amazing pool, great sports book, and lovely rooms. Make sure to book yourself a ticket to visit the Shark Reef Aquarium!
  • MGM– cross the road for your next stop at the famous MGM Grand! This resort/casino takes the top spot as the largest hotel in Las Vegas with over 6,000 rooms! Make sure to walk all the way in to see their lobby and keep your eyes open for the golden Lions throughout the property.
  • Paris Hotel and Casino– keep walking north for your next stop at the Paris Hotel and Casino. Located more center strip, across from The Bellagio, this resort/casino is themed after the famous city in France. Complete with its own mini version of the Eiffel tower, Paris can’t be missed on any trip to Las Vegas. Make sure to book yourself brunch or drinks at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant! Eating here is one of my favorite things to do in Las Vegas!

Side note- the real Paris is one of my favorite places to enjoy a nice glass of wine!

Lunch at Hussong’s Cantina (Mandalay Bay kinda)

When we were walking and exploring the strip we got hungry near Mandalay Bay! There are tons of great options but we were feeling Mexican. We stopped at Hussong’s Cantina which is located between Mandalay Bay and the Luxor. It was a very nice relaxed place to eat with good food! We got fish tacos, enchiladas, and margaritas. Yes, it was around noon but it’s never too early to enjoy a drink in Las Vegas!

Neon Museum

After we were done exploring and having lunch we went on to our next adventure- the Neon Museum! The Neon Museum, located just 12 minutes from the Strip, has been the home to the old neon Vegas signs since1996. They are dedicated to collecting, preserving, studying, and exhibiting iconic Las Vegas signs for educational, historic, arts, and cultural enrichment. We had the opportunity to visit the “Boneyard” of signs on our most recent visit to Las Vegas. It was so cool to see all the old signs and explore the museum. Some of the highlights included the old Stardust Casino sign, the Hard Rock Cafe sign which is a giant Gibson Guitar, and the Moulin Rouge Casino sign. They also offer specialty tours and numerous fun events throughout the year.

Cost:

  • General Admission- $20
  • Admission and Tour- $28
  • Admission, tour, and 25 minute light projection show- Brillant– $45

Big thanks to the Neon Museum for hosting our visit!

Downtown Las Vegas

The Neon Museum is fairly close to downtown Las Vegas so it is a natural next stop on your Las Vegas Itinerary! We took a short Uber ride to The D and wandered from there. The D was actually a really fun place to gamble plus they have a balcony on the second floor that overlooks all of Fremont Street- so cool!

SlotZilla Zip Line

After wandering for a bit we decided to take a ride on the Slotzilla Zip Line! This one of a kind experience will take you 11 floors up soaring over the downtown streets with Fremont Street Experience above you. It is one of the coolest things. You can do the lower “sitting” version or the higher up “superman” style one (this is the one we did). It was such a blast! Totally worth giving it a try on any Vegas trip.

Cost:

Regular Zip Line: $29

Superman Style: $49

Fremont Street Experience

You will experience this the entire time you are downtown Las Vegas. The Fremont Street Experience is the largest screen in the world that lives high above Fremont Street. There are constantly colorful images and video streaming on the 16.4 million pixels on this screen. Every hour from 6 pm-1 am you can also see the Fremont Street Experience Light Show which features custom video footage set to music and lights- it’s a free show that can’t be missed in Las Vegas! Check it out on their Instagram below:

Dinner at Whiskey Licker Up (Binions)

For dinner, we decided to visit Whiskey Licker Up at Binions Gambling Hall which is located right on Fremont Street. We got seats at their window bar area that overlooked Fremont Stree below- it was fun to people watch and enjoy the Fremont Experience Show! We had some really good food too- I got the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and Mint Coconut specialty drink.

Zion National Park: Day 3

For our third day in Las Vegas, we decided to escape the city for a little natural beauty. We rented a car and drove roughly 3 hours north to Zion National Park! Located in southern Utah, Zion National Park is famous for its breathtaking vistas and amazing hiking! Some of the most famous being The Narrows and Angels Landing. We were only there for the day and are not experienced hikers so we chose to participate in some easy day hikes. Read the full story here!

Hike 1: Emerald Pools

Our first hike on our day trip to Zion was to the Emerald Pools via the Lower Emerald Pools trail. This is one of the most popular hikes within Zion National Park! The Lower Emerald Pools trail is an easy to moderate level hike and most of the path is paved. The incline is only slight, at 70 ft throughout the journey. There are some drop-offs along the path so make sure to pay close attention. This hike leads visitors to the glistening waterfall that flows between the upper and lower Emerald Pools.

Hike 2: Kayenta Trail

After visiting the Emerald Pools we set off on our next hike, the Kayenta Trail. This trail connects back down to the shuttle pick-up area but at the next stop down the line, stop #6 The Grotto. The Kayenta Trail is also used by many hikers as a more challenging way to reach the Emerald Pools. This hike is about a 2 miles round-trip and takes roughly 2 hours. This trail is considered moderate difficulty and reaches about 200 ft in elevation from its base.

Hike 3: Riverwalk Trail

Next on our Zion National Park day trip, we took the shuttle up the canyon to the last stop, #9 Temple of Sinawava formerly known as “Gateway to the Narrows”. This hike is a really lovely walk along the Virgin River as it flows through the canyon. It is an easy hike, all of which is paved and wheelchair accessible. The trail is also mostly level (no elevation), with lots of shade. Hikers can access the river at certain points along the way and take in the beauty that is Zion National Park.

Hike 4: Canyon Overlook Trail

Our last hike of the day was Canyon Overlook Trail. This is one of the few trails that lead visitors to a view of the Upper East Canyon within Zion National Park. At the overlook, there is a plaque that points out all the major landmarks for you. Some of the most interesting ones include the Route 9 switchbacks, Bridge Mountain (highest on the left side of the canyon), the East Temple, and the Pine Creek Stream way far below.

Make sure to get all your essentials for hiking at Zion National Park before you go!

Saw Themed Escape Room

Our day was not over after Zion! We drove back to Las Vegas, happily eating In-N-Out Burger on the way, to participate in a Saw Themed Escape Room. It was so cool!

If you haven’t had the opportunity to do an escape room yet, what better place to give it a try than Las Vegas! Where everything is over the top and crazy fun. The general concept of an escape room is that you/your group has to solve riddles or puzzles to “escape” within a certain amount of time. Sometimes it’s one room and sometimes it’s many. We participated in a fully immersive Saw themed escape room hosted by “Egan & Co Meat Packing” on our most recent visit. It was so much fun and pretty scary! There were 7 rooms total to escape from and the adventure started right when you walked up to the building. It was very well done.

Cost:

  • General admission- $50
  • Private booking- $70

Las Vegas + Hoover Dam: Day 4

After a full day at Zion National Park, we were so tired as to be expected. So we slept in on our last day in Las Vegas and went to brunch around 10 am. There are so many great places to have brunch in Las Vegas including Sandelles at The Bellagio.

Breakfast at Sandelles (The Bellagio)

Sandelles is modeled after its famous counterpart located in New York City and has amazing food! The settling is lovely and overlooks the Bellagio Pools. We sampled the Steak and Eggs, Mimosas, and Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict- so yummy!

Pro Tip– Make sure to get a reservations- this place is very popular for couples and girls getaways.

Hoover Dam and Lake Mead

After brunch, we used our rental car to head out to Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. This is an easy 30-minute drive from Las Vegas. We stopped at several lookouts and scenic drive areas along the way.

Built between 1931-1936, the Hoover Dam is one of the largest dams in the world. It dams up the colorado river and supplies power to much of Nevada and California. The Hoover Dam also has a visitor center and you can actually walk on the dam itself! They also offer various tours and have a cafe on site.

The dam created Lake Mead which is a great place to rent a boat to experience the lake and dam! Lake Mead also has a great recreation area where you can swim, boat, hike and so much more! You could easily spend more than just a half-day here.

Explore the North Strip

After returning our rental car and refreshing a bit we set out on our last night in Las Vegas. We decided to explore the rest of the strip before dinner. Check out my top North Strip casino/resorts to visit below:

  • The Venetian– modeled after the famous city in Italy, the Venetian is dripping in Italian beauty. The exterior of the building is reminiscent of St. Marks Square in Venice. You can even take a Gondola ride on The Venetians man-made water canals. This is one of my favorite things to do in Las Vegas! Make sure to spend some time exploring the Grand Canal Shoppes!
  • The Mirage – This amazing casino resort is Polynesian themed. It is well-known for its free Volcano Show and they are the host of Cirque du Soleil’s Love Beatles show! I had the opportunity to see this show back in 2013 and it is truly amazing especially for me being the massive Beatles fan that I am. The Mirage also hosts the Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat as well as a massive 53 by 8-foot fish tank behind the lobby desk- so cool! Check out the Mirage Volcano show via the Mirage Instagram page below:
  • Wynn– located at the far north end of the strip along with its twin, Encore, The Wynn cannot be missed. It may be one of the most luxurious casinos on the Las Vegas Strip. Their decor, restaurants, bars, lounges, casino floor, everything is just so well done. The Wynn complex is the only place on the Las Vegas strip at which you can golf 18 with casino and desert views! Make sure to check out the free Lake of Dreams show while your exploring.

Dinner at Mizumi (The Wynn)

For our final night in Las Vegas, we decided once again to eat at a fancy place. We love Japanese food so we decided on Mizumi at the Wynn. First let me say the setting was just amazing as you will see in my photos below, we had a waterfall view from our table. The restaurant is set behind a false wall of water and lush plants to really make you feel transported to Japan.

The food at Mizumi was outstanding. It was certainly the best food we had in Las Vegas and made my top 5 meals ever right behind Pici in Cortona Italy. We enjoyed Shrimp Tempura and Spicy Salmon Roll, Seared ‘Aburi’ Yellowtail Sunazuri Sushi (the best ever!), and Angus Beef Filet and Black Truffle Teriyaki. Check out their full menu- here!

Ride the High Roller

After dinner, we made our way to the Linq Promenade to ride the High Roller. Located right on the Las Vegas Strip, the High Roller is the biggest Observation Wheel in the world. It rises a staggering 550 feet above the city which gives way to breathtaking views of Vegas below.

Cost:

  • Day- around $20
  • Night- around $32
  • Prices subject to change and current deals

The Bellagio Fountain Show!

Finish off your 4- Day Las Vegas trip by watching the famous Bellagio Fountain show! One of my favorite things to do in Las Vegas! This show runs every 15 minutes throughout the day and is different each and every time! Check it out on their Instagram below:
