Our visit to Mercado de La Boqueria took place in 2016, when my husband and I spent a few short hours in Barcelona. During our brief time in this amazing city we wandered, tasted tons of different foods and drinks, and really took in the vibe of the city. While we explored we stumbled upon the Mercado de La Boqueria.

The market is located along La Rambla which runs from the Plaça de Catalunya to the water’s edge. It’s a lovely walk with many places to stop and see including this amazing market which has been in some form of operation since the early 1200s!

As we were walking, we stumbled across a beautiful archway and decided to check it out. We had no idea what we were really walking into…. but we were completely blown away! There was a vast array of colorful produce, high quality fresh seafood, nuts, olives, snacks, candy, meats, delectable pastries, anything you could think of, this market had it. Over 200 vendors total! As we wandered around, we found a little high-top counter to sit at that overlooked a few food stands and we tried a variety of yummy food items- all of which were amazing! The colors, the smell, everything, it was just perfectly Spain. I would highly recommend a stop at Mercado de La Boqueria on your next visit to Barcelona!
