Top “Social Distancing” Friendly Things to do in Las Vegas
My husband and I were so excited to visit the fabulous Las Vegas for one of our first Post Covid-19 trips but we were worried about the social distancing aspect of the city and if it was safe. So we decided to visit what we considered some of the best of the best “social distancing” friendly places in Vegas. We ended up having a great time! Below I have outlined a few of the things that we did as well as my general observations about the Covid-19 precautions we saw in place on our trip. Enjoy!

General Social Distancing/ Covid-19 Precautions
We found that many of the casinos and hotels were taking extreme social distancing and COVID-19 prevention measures on our trip to Las Vegas. We were not surprised by this at all as it is in the casinos/hotels and the entire cities best interest to keep people safe and healthy while enjoying all that Las Vegas has to offer.
Most of the casinos/hotels had the following in place:
- Clear partitions between table games players and the dealer – this helped with the prevention of germ spreading around in a close proximity game
- Every other slot machine was turned off- this helped everyone keep 6 foot apart as recommended
- All walk-up bars were closed. The only places you could get a drink were at the restaurants or if you were playing a machine/table game
- Most lounges were also closed. The only exception to this rule was if they served food. But you had to order some food items in order to get drinks while sitting there.
- Temperature checks- This was far less than I expected. The hotels we stayed at on our trip took our temperature upon check-in but only two other casinos took them upon entry. The D– downtown Las Vegas and the Wynn– at the far north side of the strip. The Wynn, in fact, has a dedicated team to Covid-19 prevention and exposure mapping.
Covid-19 Precautions at our Hotel
We stayed at the Bellagio for most of the trip. They clearly took many Covid-19 precautions to keep their guests safe and healthy while staying at their property. They included:
- A “seal” on our room guaranteeing that our room was clear and sanitized- see in the image below
- Mask and hand sanitizer in the room for us to use
- They took our temperature upon arrival and offered hand sanitizer
- They also had many measures implemented on the casino floor- all of which are listed above

#1 Visit the Neon Museum
The Neon Museum, located just 12 minutes from the Strip, has been the home to the old neon Vegas signs since1996. They are dedicated to collecting, preserving, studying, and exhibiting iconic Las Vegas signs for educational, historic, arts, and cultural enrichment. We had the opportunity to visit the “Boneyard” of signs on our most recent visit to Las Vegas. It was so cool to see all the old signs and explore the museum. Some of the highlights included the old Stardust Casino sign, the Hard Rock Cafe sign which is a giant Gibson Guitar, and the Moulin Rouge Casino sign. They also offer specialty tours and numerous fun events throughout the year.
Social Distancing Measures:
- The museum is located outside in the open air
- Limited capacity
- Must wear masks throughout the museum
- No touchpoints
Cost:
- General Admission- $20
- Admission and Tour- $28
- Admission, tour, and 25 minute light projection show- Brillant– $45
Big thanks to the Neon Museum for hosting our visit!

#2 Ride the High Roller
Located right on the Las Vegas Strip in the Linq Promenade, the High Roller is the biggest Observation Wheel in the world. It rises a staggering 550 feet above the city which gives way to breathtaking views of Vegas below. The reason this is a good thing to visit for social distancing is that you are basically in the “capsule” alone or with a small number of people which you can stay 6-feet away from.
Social Distancing Measures:
- Limited capacity
- Must wear masks
- Thoroughly cleaned
- No food or beverages
Cost:
- Day- around $20
- Night- around $32
- Prices subject to change and current deals

#3 Do an Escape Room
If you haven’t had the opportunity to do an escape room yet, what better place to give it a try than Las Vegas! Where everything is over the top and crazy fun. The general concept of an escape room is that you/your group has to solve riddles or puzzles to “escape” within a certain amount of time. Sometimes it’s one room and sometimes it’s many. We participated in a fully immersive Saw themed escape room hosted by “Egan & Co Meat Packing” on our most recent visit. It was so much fun and pretty scary! There were 7 rooms total to escape from and the adventure started right when you walked up to the building. It was very well done.
Social Distancing Measures:
- Limited capacity- your group or a small number of others whom you can stay 6 feet apart from
- Must wear masks the entire time
- Thoroughly cleaned between groups
Cost:
- General admission- $50
- Private booking- $70

#4 Ride the Slotzilla Zip Line
Next up, ride the Slotzilla Zip Line on Fremont Street a.k.a. downtown Las Vegas. This one of a kind experience will take you 11 floors up soaring over the downtown streets with Fremont Street above you. It is one of the coolest things. You can do the lower “sitting” version or the higher up “superman” style one (this is the one we did). It was such a blast! Totally worth giving it a try on any Vegas trip.
Social Distancing Measures:
- You ride this alone- all other riders are more than 6 feet apart.
- You must wear a mask in line and while getting strapped in but after that, you can take it off for the ride.
Cost:
Regular Zip Line: $29
Superman Style: $49

#5 Sit by the Pool
Visiting the pool is next on my list of great covid-19 “safe” things to do. This “social distancing” Las Vegas activity was my personal favorite. I needed to relax and the pool in the hot sun was just what I needed. There are many amazing pools in Las Vegas. Some of my favorites include the pool at Mandalay Bay, The Venitian, and The Bellagio. Check out some of the other top pools in Las Vegas –here.
This trip we stayed at The Bellagio and the pool was simply amazing. The entire pool area had several large pools and a few more private ones to sunbath by or swim in. They had ample servers to get food and drinks – and the drinks were amazing! Totally worth spending many hours “social distancing” by this pool. Plus the drinks were top-notch.
Social Distancing Measures:
- Must wear masks to and from pool chair
- Must wear a mask while sitting in pool char
- We could have our masks off while in the pool or eating/drinking

Final Thoughts
As the future of travel continues to be uncertain, I encourage all of you to be safe while traveling and take as many precautions as you can. Vegas may not be thought of as a “safe” place but we felt protected there and felt that the city/casinos/hotels took great measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19. It may not have been as carefree as travel normally is for us but it was still a fun travel adventure. 🙂

I have always wanted to visit Las Vegas, and will absolutely be using this post when I eventually do. Incredible photos!
Thank you so much! 🙂
Thanks for the ideas! I am visiting Vegas at the end of last month. My sister is coming from New York and we are spending the long weekend together.
Sounds like fun! I hope this helped 🙂
Really useful to know there are socially distanced things to do in Vegas! I love the idea of doing an escape room -they’re so much fun!
Yes totally agree- they are so much fun!
It’s good to hear Vegas is still fun (and safe) despite the madness of covid-19. I really like the sound of the neon museum and I loove the sound of the escape room.
Still as fun as ever! Thanks for reading my post 🙂
Was it busier with people than you expected? I’m assuming it was less busy than normal!
I would say it was about 60% less busy! Still fun though!
Just an amazing list. Too bad I live in India. Hope soon flights can resume.
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for reading! Hoping you can visit us very soon!
Vegas is high on my USA list, but until there’s a new President and corona is gone, I won’t be there for a while! Great read though, I’m glad you enjoyed your time there!
We will welcome you to visit whenever you feel safe! 🙂
I miss Vegas, would love to go back! It’s very interesting to know what kind of measures hotels and casinos are taking during covid. Thank you for sharing your experience!
Happy to share! We had a great time and still felt well taken care of from a safety perspective.
I haven’t been to Vegas for a few years and was supposed to go with my fiance for the first time together this summer but had to cancel since the borders are closed. This is great to know they have these protocols in place and maybe we can go next year instead 🙂
Thanks for putting this together! That’s great to know that they have a lot of precautions in place.
Yes we felt very safe there and still had a great time!
Thanks for the info! Good to know!
We loved the Neon Museum!
Yes! It’s so cool to see Vegas history in this way
I have found myself wondering quite frequently what Vegas has been like during these times! I am so glad to hear they are taking those extra precautions! And also good to hear there is still plenty to do while remaining safe!
Wow, I’m surprised so many spots were open! It looks like you guys had a great trip.
I’ll definitely have to stay at the Bellagio the next time I’m in town, it sounds like they’re doing things the right way!
We went and it was great!!
Oh good! I’m so glad you had a great time!
I too was surprised but how much was open. But it is Vegas after all, the show must go in! What a difference experience from before, but it looks like you had a great time.
Since June I have traveled many places and I have felt the same way! Everywhere you go companies are doing a great job. I highly recommend travel!
#5 is my favorite. Vegas is somewhere we haven’t visited yet but on the list. Thanks for the tips because casinos are not our thing.
I’ve heard that Vegas is a lot different right now. But looks like there are still some fun things to do. I would love to visit the Neon Museum especially.
I’m hoping to take my 1st trip to Vegas once the shows return. It was supposed to be a birthday trip back in June but we know life was interrupted. Hopefully by then, Antelope Canyon reopens too.
We missed our June trip to Vegas and haven’t been brave enough to schedule another one yet, so this post gives me hope!
I’ve done an escape room here. I think they are fun.
Visiting Vegas has been my dream for years together! Hopefully in the next few years, I will be able to make it! It’s good to see that big cities like Vegas have opened up tourism with safety measures!
I haven’t made it to Vegas yet, but I really want to go! The Neon Museum looks really cool. I’d love to check out many of these things. I think sitting by the pool would be great about now, too!
We luckily caught Vegas pre- Covid in January and we also stayed at the Bellagio. Good to know they have safe protocols in place and that you guys had a great time!
The protocols are good to know before visiting a place. We were scheduled for Vegas this past April. Of course that was cancelled. We are looking to reschedule once more of the city reopens.
Great info! Thanks for sharing how casinos are handling COVID!
Thank you for letting us know that all walk-up bars were closed. I was wondering about that. I like that the hotel provided a kit with masks. That is very thoughtful.
We are looking for some great things to do during the pandemic. Thank you for the ideas!
I have yet to visit Vegas. I certainly will some day. Good to know that you felt safe there and that protocols are in place.
