Top Attractions at the Magic Kingdom to Visit Post Covid-19

In the spring of 2020, the Covid-19 Pandemic hit the entire world hard forcing everyone to stay home for an extended period of time. Now that the travel restrictions are finally lifting many of us are looking for an escape. We need someplace to travel and get away from the troubles of the world. What better place to visit than Walt Disney World!

With Walt Disney World reopening on July 11, I have put together my top attractions at the Magic Kingdom to visit post-COVID-19. All of these attractions will take you to another world, help you escape, and fully immerse you in the Disney experience. Just what most of us need after being stuck at home for so long. But I couldn’t do it alone! I have enlisted the help of two of my fellow travel bloggers/Disney lovers to help me pick the best of the best.

Katie McLellan- Disney lover, world traveler, and former Disney employee

Katie is the biggest Disney fan her friends know. She has been visiting Walt Disney World pretty much every year since she was 7 years old. Katie even got to live out her dream of getting to work at Disney in 2008-2009 as a character attendant. She hasn’t been to visit in a while but Katie always feels at home when she gets to ride Disney rides and laugh and scream until her heart is content. And she will always believe that Spectomagic was the best nighttime parade.  🙂

Kelsey McKinley- runs her very own Disney travel blog A Little Bit of Pixie Dust.

Kelsey is the founder of A Little Bit of Pixie Dust, a blog dedicated to Disney travel and everything Disney! She started A Little Bit of Pixie Dust because she often travels to Disney Parks and wanted to share her love of Disney with others.  Kelsey grew up in Michigan and has been traveling to the Disney parks since she was a toddler. Her family went to Disney for vacations and celebrations and often visited on spring break or holiday break. She even got engaged at Disney World!

I, myself, have pretty decent Disney creds. With my family, I have had the opportunity to visit Disney over 10 times both as a child and as an adult. I always enjoy myself by being fully emerged in the Disney experience, especially staying at the Disney resorts and visiting my favorite park, the Magic Kingdom. My fav ride at the Magic Kingdom is Splash Mountain. 🙂

1. Watch the Festival of Fantasy Parade

Submitted by Sara Moore

This enchanting parade will take you away to a magical Disney fantasy land. It has all your favorite Disney Characters including Minnie, Mickey, Disney Princesses like Cinderella, and more modern favorites like Merida! The Festival of Fantasy Parade has a mix of floats, motion, and original Disney music that is sure to get stuck in your head. Colorful performers dance down Main Street, characters are high in the sky on swings and there is even a fire-breaking dragon! Be sure to check the Entertainment Schedule or the Times Guide at the Magic Kingdom for the performance schedule. This attraction at the Magic Kingdom can’t be missed!

Splurge and book yourself a VIP Lady and the Tramp themed lunch that includes priority parade viewing seats. Note- It’s not currently available for booking due to Covid-19, but hopefully, they will bring it back soon.

2. Visit the Enchanted Tiki Room

Submitted by Kelsey McKinley

Many people don’t know the Enchanted Tiki Room even exists but I recommend that every Disney goer visits the Tiki Room at least once. The Tiki Room is a fun show that features several Disney characters and leaves you singing the Tiki Room song all day long! One of the most fun attractions at the Magic Kingdom.

3. Escape to the Haunted Mansion

Submitted by Katie McLellan

This is one of my favorite Magic Kingdom rides EVER! It has the right amount of scary for this wimp and the slow-moving ride in the air-conditioning is the perfect ride to sit and enjoy. The Haunted Mansion, in my mind, has the best spiel and ghost host and the right amount of humor to go along with the ride. I’ve seen a few changes to the queue line over the years and now it keeps the whole family entertained while standing in the long line. I will love this ride forever.

4. Watch Mickey’s PhilharMagic

Submitted by Kelsey McKinley

Some people may think Mickey’s PhilharMagic is a kid’s show but I visit this attraction every time I’m at the Magic Kingdom! This show brings your favorite Disney movies to life and will put you in a feel-good mood! The show is inside so you can rest in the air-conditioning while experiencing your favorite Disney movies in a whole new way!

5. Have Lunch at Cinderellas Royal Table

Submitted by Sara Moore

Okay in all honestly, you cannot book this one yet. All Character dinning is not included in the first phase of Walt Disney World reopening. However, this is one of the top attractions at the Magic Kingdom so I am sure they will open it very soon!

It doesn’t matter how old you are, you are never too old to have lunch at Cinderellas Castle. We never booked it in time growing up so I finally got to go at 20 years old and I could not have been more pleased. 🙂 Cinderella greats you in the magical Grand Hall before you are escorted up a lovely spiral staircase to the main dining room. This main space is complete with stone archways and spectacular stained-glass windows that overlook the Magic Kingdom. This magical experience includes a very nice lunch, photos with Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and other Disney Princesses and some other cool experiences.

  • Cost: $60 per Adult
  • You can book this experience for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

6. Ride the Tomorrowland Transit Authority (TTA)

Submitted by Kelsey McKinley

The TTA is often an overlooked attraction that takes you through Tomorrowland and gives you amazing views of the Magic Kingdom. All of us Disney fans have been missing the spectacular Cinderellas Castle views so make sure you check out the views from the TTA.  Also, if you need a break, ride the Tomorrowland Transit Authority to give your feet a rest!

7. Ride the Big Thrill Rides!

Submitted by Katie McLellan and Sara Moore

Big Thunder Mountain

I enjoy the “Fastest Ride in the Wilderness”! I love how fast it goes, I love the turns and the arms up moments. If you have never seen the name in the bathtub as you’re whizzing around the mountain then you better keep your eyes open next time.

Space Mountain

I love the theming of this ride, the space games you can play while waiting, watching the meteor showers and shooting stars just before you climb into your very own space shuttle. If you look closely you can see other space shuttles flying pass…how can you? Well, they are very space green lights. But be careful if you’re tall on the ride you might want to keep your arms firmly inside the shuttle. Space Mountain has always been one of the most popular attractions at the Magic Kingdom.

Splash Mountain

Splash Mountain is one of my all-time favorite Magic Kingdom rides and I am excited to share that it will soon be reimagined to incorporate the fantastic Disney Movie, The Princess and the Frog! I am sure the ride will still contain great music, a water log ride, and of course the famous huge adrenaline drop at the end! Make sure to stay tuned for more info on the reimagination of Splash Mountain.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

This fantastic Disney World attraction features a race through the Seven Dwarfs mine on this family-oriented thrill ride! You get to ride a rustic mine train that creaks and teeters all the way through the mountain.  During the ride, you will encounter the Seven Dwarfs singing their classic song. The biggest drop on this roller coaster offers great views of Fantasyland.  It’s also fun to experience jewel sorting while you wait to embark on this Magic Kingdom ride.  There are also hidden notes from Doc!

8. Visit some of your Favorite Characters

Submitted by Katie McLellan

Ok ok, it might not be a ride but you still have to stand in long lines so see your favorites. And honestly, this is one of my favorite things to do, as a kid, a teen, a cast member, and as an adult. The interactions with your favorite Disney characters are priceless. I’ve seen shy kids come out if their shells, grown women cry when they met Cinderella, grandparents watch as there grandchildren’s dream come true. It doesn’t matter how old you are, go see your favorite childhood Disney characters- trust me it will be a memory for a lifetime made at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.

9. Escape inside Toy Story with Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin

Submitted by Katie McLellan

Who doesn’t love some friendly family competition in the most magical place on earth? Who doesn’t love firing laser beams at things to gain points? Granted I am not very good at this game but I still love playing. And spinning and fighting the bad guy. The more points you get the more space worthy you are. How doesn’t want to be a space ranger like Buzz?!?! Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is one of the top attractions at the Magic Kingdom, especially for kiddos!

10. Ride Pirates of the Caribbean

Submitted by Kelsey McKinley

Pirates is a classic Disney attraction and one of the last rides Walt personally supervised so it holds a special place in my heart! Your whole family will love the nostalgic ride through the Caribbean and if you love the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, make sure to look out for Jack Sparrow!  With such trying times, this feel-good attraction will put the whole family in a great mood! This is a must-do Magic Kingdom ride!
